Need to de-stress? Yin Yoga can help!
Doing yoga poses that are close to the floor are especially great for releasing any stress, since they have a grounding energy.
Whenever you find thoughts of worry creeping in during your practice, I always like to refocus on the sound of my breath. Keep in mind that in that particular moment there’s nothing else to do than relax. Those things really can wait, if we give ourselves the permission!
You may need two blocks (you can always just use stacks of books or thick pillows) and a blanket for this class.
These poses are a collection from my most recent video on YouTube. Click on the video above if you would like to take the full 20 minute practice alongside with me.
1. Reclined Butterfly
Lower down onto your back and let your feet come together, knees fall out left & right.
Your arms & hands can go wherever it’s most comfortable to you. You might need two blocks for underneath the knees, if you’re low back is sensitve or it just feels like a bit to much without them.
Hold for 4-5 minutes.
2. Lying Spinal Twist
Straighten your left leg and pull your right knee into your chest, letting it cross over the body to the left, maybe using your left hand to guide it.
Reach the right arm out into a cactus shape, both shoulders stay evenly grounded on the mat so that your chest is facing up towards the ceiling. The twist should be happening in your mid to low back.
Hold for 4 Minutes and release to do the other side.
